9 inch Axiom – On being Important

‘It’s nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice’ – JMP Sr.

Dad and his skier plaque

My dad officially turned 80 today.  Above is a clock / plaque I made for him.  My Dad makes some great clocks and plaques so I gave it a try in honor of him becoming an octogenarian.  The plaque celebrates my Dad having 45+ years of service as a National Ski Patroller.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

Today’s Lagniappe  (a little something extra) – Dad decided to jump out of a perfectly good airplane today to celebrate his 80th.  He successfully completed the tandem jump.  Nice one JMP Sr. . .  You ROCK!

Here is the video of my Dad making the jump:

I enjoy every one of your 9 Inch blogs. Short, to the point, always insightful. But today’s brief “shout out” to your Dad didn’t have anything to do with marketing…overtly that is. But there is a message to be taken away from your posting, well captured in your Dad’s quote by the way, and that is; It’s possible to be nice in marketing and in business and succeed. As a career “agency guy”, I always tell my staff that “people like to do business with people they like”.

Oh yeah, one other thing. It’s great to see a genuine show of love for your father. It’s obvious you have a great relationship.

    Keep up the great work!

As you know Stan….the apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree.
Thanks for the nice tribute and plaque.
Perhaps we’ll can jump together one day….
    I’d do it again. It’s a blast!
    Love, DAD
